History of the Lighthouse Boat Bar

One-third scale skipjack bar One of the most unique features of the restaurant is the one-third scale skipjack bar.  The skipjack was designed and built by local master craftsman and carver, "Pepper" Langley.
Pepper, born in 1915, was raised and lived most of his life in Solomons.  The Solomons he grew up in was a different place, with a harbor full of fishing skiffs, bugeyes, skipjacks, and other working boats.  Pepper spent most of his life building and working on boats from Annapolis to Solomons. Because his model skills were self taught and are representative of a craft that is widely going out of existence, Pepper has attempted to pass them along through classes at the Calvert Marine Museum.  There you can see many fine examples of his craft exhibited.
